2009 Rides

Napa Tour De Cure. Charity ride for diabetes. Sunday, May3, 2009

60-80% chance rain was forcast for the whole day. It rained the night before, and was coming down in the morning as I loaded the bike. We decided to tough it out anyway, and geared up with all the wool items we had. I quickly mounted a front fender from my daily driver bike, and cobbled together a rear fender. We were temped to call it off several times, but were glad we went through with the full 50 miles that we pledged. We headed out the starting gate in the rain, and ended in sunshine. One flat tire. Sorry - no pictures from the rainy portion! See the GPS logs here.

Here are the professional images that I'm too cheap to buy.

At the last rest stop with 15 miles to go. We'd finally removed our wind breakers and were letting our wool layers dry out.

This picture doesn't do it justice. The bike has never been more filthy.

End of the day and all loaded up ready for the trip back home.
