More Rubicon LED conversions
Latest project for Rich - modifying the factory under-hood light to use an
LED. The main problem that folks seem to have is that when they hose out the
engine compartment, if any water gets into this fixture (you really can't
keep the water out!) the bulb breaks. You'll notice in this shot that there
are some water drops. There's a good reason for that! This mod looks deceptively
simple. It wasn't!
Here I have submerged the complete assembly into a tank of water. The water
level is up to the probe boots. I ran it like this for 30 minutes. I'm confident
that splashing water on this will not be a problem! Instead of attempting
the impossible task of waterproofing the fixture, I decided to just waterproof
everything inside the leaky fixture.
Front roll bar dome light converted to 3x Lux1 stars.

Remoteable under-hood light converted to 1x Lux1 star (with
custom reflector). For Elwarpo.
The 1156 LED "bulb" that I made for this mod. Because I built the
LED module onto an 1156 shell, the modification is 100% reversible. Just remove
this bulb, and pop in the standard one if you want to go backwards.
